Cradle-to-Cradle and OEKO-TEX® collaboration
Textile Industry Circularity Reaches a New Level: OEKO-TEX® and Cradle to Cradle Certified® Join Forces
Sustainability efforts in the textile industry are gaining new momentum through the collaboration between OEKO-TEX® and the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute (C2CPII). The goal is to establish a circular system that simultaneously protects the environment, promotes the use of safe materials, and supports responsible manufacturing.
Unified Standards and Reliable Certifications
Cradle to Cradle Certified® now accepts materials certified by OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, ORGANIC COTTON, and MADE IN GREEN. These certifications comply with the EU’s REACH regulation and exclude PFAS compounds, making it easier for manufacturers to source sustainable raw materials.
The system is built on three key steps: responsible material sourcing, designing for recyclability, and developing systems for collection and reuse. A digital circularity report supports these efforts by providing transparency for all stakeholders.
This collaboration raises the accessibility and implementation of circular principles in the textile industry to a new level, enabling companies to transition to sustainable operations more broadly and effectively.
